Photography

A picture truly ‘paints’ a thousand words and the best photos taken by Kamaji’s shutterbugs are those of camp friends, camp activities and scenic camp views.  Shooting black-n-white film with 35 mm SLR cameras, campers learn the combination  of elements — subject matter, “rule of thirds’, background and foreground, focus, lighting, color, motion — that must come together to create  the whole image.

Not only do our campers learn how to shoot great photos, they also develop and print them in Kamaji’s photo lab and darkroom.  For the advanced photographer, sophisticated film printing techniques include sandwiching, three dimensional, collages, image transferring, montages, negative transparencies, lith printing, paper negatives, vignetting and silhouettes as well as photo coloring and aging.
