Around Kamaji

Dining Hall
Kamaji’s Dining Hall is named “Sloan Hall” in honor of our longtime and beloved Head Cook, Marjena Sloan, who cooked at Kamaji for over 30 summers.

During mealtimes, campers sit with their counselors and cabin groups at a table together. We eat “family style” so a designated camper (the “hopper”) will go up to the kitchen window and bring a tray full of delicious food back to the table for everyone to share.

The food at camp is DE-LI-CIOUS and something most Kamaji campers and staff will talk about when reminiscing about their summer! Check out some of our recipes in Kamaji’s cookbook, Just Add Water, authored by Marjena herself.

Twice a week we do have an outdoor BBQ. The food, again, is absolutely delicious and the “rainbow burgers” served during Tuesday’s BBQ are a camp favorite!

We can’t talk about Sloan Hall without mentioning the singing! After each meal, the campers erupt in song. The songs after breakfast and lunch are quite loud and rowdy whereas the ones after dinner tend to be quieter and more relaxing. Nothing can compete with the energy and excitement in Sloan Hall after lunch!
